Senecal convicted on sex charges

Former county doctor convicted on multiple sex charges.

Jean Senecal was found guilty by a Pike County jury of rape and sodomy.

Sencal, former OBGYN, practiced medicine in several wiregrass offices, including Luverne. He was licensed to practice medicine in Ala in 1979. His Ala medical license expired in Dec 2017.

He was convicted of two counts of first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sodomy. Since each of these felony convictions carry a sentence of life or not more than 99 years and not less than 10 years, Senecal, 72, will probably spend the rest of his life incarcerated.

Assistant District Attorney Ternisha Jones prosecuted the case. The investigation was a year-long process by the Troy police department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation leading to Sencal’s arrest on March 1, 2019.

Video evidence supported allegations that Senecal had sexual relations with a victim appearing to be incapacitated, possibly by pharmaceuticals.

Judge Shannon Clark is scheduled to sentence Senecal on April 1.
