Bingo raises money for Relay
The Rutledge Community Center held Bingo for Relay last Saturday night.
Mayor Steve Phillips was on hand collecting money and handing out Bingo cards.
“Everyone had a great time. We raised over $3,300 for Relay for Life. I think we had a great turnout and everyone left happy,” Phillips said.
Kathryn Tomlin, Luverne library director, helped organize the event and handed out prizes while her husband, Lomax, called Bingo numbers and verified winning Bingo Cards.
Several businesses and community members donated prizes for the event. Prizes included whole turkeys, gift cards, cash, and household goods.
Cakes, hotdogs, cupcakes and other goodies were available for purchase as well.
“It was a lot of fun,” Tim Johnson, Bingo player, said. “I won a gift certificate and three pounds of bacon, and it was all for a good cause.”
