Pet of the Week

By Haley Mitchell Godwin

Hi! My name is Chase, and I am a Pekingese/Chihuahua mix. I am 2 years old, and Anna Grace Cowles of Highland Home is my human mommy. My mom says that I am not a “normal” inside dog. I love to play in the pasture with the cows and ride the side by side. Once I even got some good sugar from a baby calf. He covered me in slobber! I love when my mom holds me like a baby and rocks me to sleep. I like to sit and watch TV and I always sleep on my back just like my human family members. I do my best to keep intruders away, especially the one that drives that big brown truck. He will not stop bringing boxes to our home no matter how much I bark!

Chase is a rescue dog that came from an abusive situation but is now thriving. His favorite treat is peanut butter, and he keeps his family entertained by jumping in the air to try and catch flies. He also loves to play fetch with anything his mom throws for him. He is potty trained to use the pasture as his bathroom. Although he is not a long-haired dog, his mom says he sheds like crazy. He obeys a few commands. He can sit, get in his bed, and lay down. His favorite thing to do is ride in his family’s 1968 Ford truck and stare out the window. Chase has one sister, a 13-year-old cat. (Phentermine) These siblings do not get along, but their interactions do provide some entertainment. Chase is not a picky eater and often tries to sneak a bite or two off his mom’s plate. He is a healthy boy but during his first trip to the vet, the veterinarian recommended doggy braces.
