Luverne dominates Calhoun
The Luverne Tigers shut out the Calhoun Tigers 45-0 in Friday night’s game.
Luverne didn’t have much of a challenge with Calhoun’s team, which is made up mostly of new players. The lack of experience was evident throughout the night as players struggled to find their position during plays.
Nikki Taylor made the first touchdown, completing a 41-yard pass thrown by John Taylor.
Keeshaun Glanton followed with impressive 42-yard and 35-yard touchdowns.
John Taylor completed another touchdown throw to Nikki Taylor, securing a 25-point lead going into the second quarter.
Glanton completed his third touchdown of the night with a 16-yard run, PJ Rich completed the extra point.
Rich completed a 35-yard interception return and kicked the extra point resulting in a 39-point lead going into the half.
Calhoun’s defensive line managed to keep the scoring to a minimum in the second half. The Luverne Tigers were only able to add six points to the scoreboard, which Glanton added with his fourth touchdown of the night.
“I thought our guys played with good intensity. Homecoming week is always a coach’s dream to try to prepare kids for a ball game,” Luverne Coach Jason Rowell said. “We’re fixing to hit the stretch run where we will see some really good football teams.
Our guys have to go to practice and prepare and get better every day; our goal is to go 1-0 each week.”
The Luverne Tigers are scheduled to take on Francis Marion tomorrow night at home.
