Flying Squadron knocked out of AHSAA 2A semifinals


The Highland Home Flying Squadron lost to the Clarke County Bulldogs during the semifinal matchup of the AHSAA Class 2A playoffs.

Highland Home scored first against the Bulldogs with five minutes left in the first quarter after a 30-yard touchdown pass.

The Bulldogs tied the game with a 29-yard touchdown pass following the punt return.

Although Bulldogs took the lead after a nine-yard touchdown pass during the second quarter, the Flying Squadron made it a one-score game following a 15-yard run to the end zone.

In the last minute before halftime, the Bulldogs managed to extend their lead 21-13 following a 20-yard touchdown pass.

Although Highland Home managed to tie the score in the opening of the third quarter after a nearly 10-yard run, the Bulldogs would go on to score three touchdowns throughout the remainder of the second half and take the win.

With the loss, Highland Home ends the season with an 8-6 record.
