Pet of the week
By Haley Mitchell Godwin
Greetings! I am Drax, a 2-year-old German shepherd. Brandon and Susan Boatwright of Luverne are the leaders of my pack. However, I am a total Mama’s boy and wherever she goes, I go. I think she may love and adore me just as much as I cherish and treasure her. I love back scratches, naps and eating. I really love having my back scratched right above my tail, but I think my mom gets tired of me pointing my rear end at her to show her the right spot. She says I sound like a cow mooing when she’s scratching me. Back scratches are just so relaxing.
Drax is an inside dog and has several doggy beds to lounge on throughout his home. At night, he sleeps in his crate beside his sister. Drax’s mom said that he has a very odd personality and that she adores his uniqueness. Drax has one sibling, Sabel. The name Drax name originated from the movie Guardians of the Galaxy. Drax can be a little shy, but it does not take him long to warm up to a stranger. He has undergone basic obedience training, but his parents want him to learn some additional discipline. As a puppy, Drax sustained a head injury when his overzealous sister tried to teach him a lesson about eating her food. The accident has caused him to have some lifelong issues and Drax isn’t a very active dog. His mother thinks he would be the perfect therapy dog and said that Drax has been a great addition to their family.
