Local law enforcement assist Andalusia in kidnapping
On Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 8:27 p.m. Andalusia Police Department requested assistance form the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) through the E911 system in reference to a kidnapping that took place in the city of Andalusia.
The CCSO was asked to assist in locating Anthony Pouncey at 144 North Bolling Ave, in Rutledge.
According to the CCSO, Sheriff Terry Mears and Deputy Woods were unable to locate Pouncey at the address.
The Andalusia Police Department and the State Bureau of Investigation team began checking the area using pings from Pouncey’s cell phone to narrow down the search.
Sergeant Kevin Bowen with the Luverne Police Department noticed a vehicle fitting the description of Pouncey’s behind a house on 419 Forest Ave. in Luverne.
Bowen verified the vehicle did belong to Pouncey and stood by until backup could arrive.
SBI, Andalusia Police Department, CCSO, and Brantley Police Department searched and cleared the home and located Pouncey and the female victim.
Pouncey was detained by Mears and then transported to Andalusia Police Department by Investigator Laster for questioning.
“I would like to thank all the departments involved,” Mears said. “Their help was greatly appreciated and I was pleased with how well everyone was able to work together as one team.”
Mears also expressed his thanks to the ladies at Crenshaw Central for their quick response and for doing a great job getting the locations and information needed to help bring Pouncey into custody.
