Brantley graduates earn Alfa scholarships

Alfa recently awarded 100 college students a $1000 scholarship through the Alfa Foundation Scholarship Program.

Adam Carlisle and Elleigh Layton who both recently graduated Brantley High School earned a $1000 scholarship from Alfa.

Carlisle is a sophomore at Auburn University studying exercise science.

Layton is a freshman at the University of South Alabama and is studying occupational therapy.

“These students represent the future of our state and our nation, and we are proud to invest in their education,” Alfa Insurance President Jimmy Parnell said. “We feel certain we’ll see a great return on this investment, because our scholarship recipients go on to do great things.”

The scholarship recipients were from 47 counties and are enrolled in 15 different universities and colleges. Recipients were awarded scholarships based on academics, school and community activities, honors, work experience, and future goals.

In eight years, the Alfa Foundation Programs has awarded $750,000 in scholarships to first-year college students. Recipients may use the money towards tuition, fees, books and/or supplies.
