“Woof! Woof! My name is Elly May and I am a seven-year-old American bulldog. I bet you’d never guess that my mom likes the show Beverly Hillbillies.

“I belong to Kent and Stacey Perritt and we live in Highland Home along with my Boston terrier sister and best friend, whom my folks rescued last year.

“I was born deaf, but life has always been grand. My favorite treat is peanut butter, and I stay away from vegetables, except for collard greens and peas. Mom says I am the sweetest girl ever and I do love tummy rubs, and snuggling, but I also take pride in being the protector of my pack.

“Even though I sometimes shed horribly, my parents let me sleep right in the middle of their king-size bed. I like playing fetch, but I really don’t like to give the ball back.”
Stacey said the 70-pound canine thinks she is a lapdog, and the pup’s favorite thing to do is sit in the recliner with her daddy.

According to Stacey, Elly May’s deafness does not slow her down. She is a very smart girl that knows several hand signals.

As a result of the pup being deaf, Elly May’s other senses are heightened. She loves chasing beams from a flashlight and her reactions to vibrations can be intense and entertaining to watch.
Elly May has allergies and sees Dr. Gammage twice a year for allergy shots.
