The Rutledge community hosted a festive Independence Day celebration on Friday, July 4. Local residents, first responders and other organizations partnered to host a parade starting at 10 AM. Volunteers were on hand to pass out free hotdog, watermelon, soft drinks and cake slices. Patrons brought out their lawn chairs and fans to congregate around and inside Rutledge Mercantile. Later in the day, the community was set to host live music at 5:30 p.m. and a firework show beginning at dark.
