The Town of Brantley and the Brantley Parks and Recreation department invites the surrounding community to a fundraiser slated for Saturday, June 28. The fundraiser, set to be at 689 North Sasser St., will offer live entertainment, food vendors and concessions, games, fireworks and more.
“The mayor [Bernie Sullivan], Dr. [Clint] Kilcrease and myself [have] wanted [this] back in Brantley for years,” said Scotty Abadilla, acting director for the fundraiser. “The team Dr. Kilcrease, and myself [have] put together to get this going has been a major help to our success.”
The fundraiser is to help fund different aspects of the department’s endeavors, including their goal of bringing the youth baseball and softball back to Brantley. Additionally, all funds earned during the event will also be used to better the facilities, new fencing and other repairs.
Planned activities include a watermelon eating contest, sack races, a free car show and more.
“The festival will be a day full of fun that allows residents of all ages to connect and relax in a family friendly space,” Kilcrease said. “There will be something for everyone to enjoy.”
In addition to these activities, there will also be a wiffleball tournament. While registration to play in the event closed, 16 teams have registered to compete.
Food will be available during the event through different vendors and a concession stand, which will offer sweets, burgers, fries, popcorn and more. While there is not an official list yet of all of the vendors, Abadilla said that there are currently over 40 food and arts and crafts vendors.
“We just ask anyone that can [to] come on out Saturday, June 28 and spend the day with us and help support us on bringing our young Bulldog girls and boys back to Brantley,” Abadilla said.
“If nothing else, we get to end the day on a bang — literally, with a firework show, and everyone loves fireworks,” Kilcrease said. “I would ask our community to strongly consider coming by and seeing what we have to offer them.”
The Brantley Parks and Rec fundraiser will be on June 28 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 689 North Sasser Street in Brantley.
