The Luverne Library will be closed June 19 in observance of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth Celebration

A Juneteenth Celebrations

will take place Saturday June 21, 10 a.m. at the Luverne Multipurpose Center. Rev. Brian Brunson will be the guest speaker. The program will have gospel songs, praise dances and games for the youth. Everyone is invited. Refreshments will be served.

Historical Museum

The Crenshaw County Historical Museum will host an open house Saturday, June 31, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A yard sale will be held in in the barn also. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.

A Color Our World Summer Reading 2025 event for ages 9 -12 will be held at the Luverne Public Library June 26 at 10 a.m.

Book Club

Word Nerds book club will meet at the Luverne Public Library Thursday, June 26 at 5 p.m. All adult reading enthusiasts are welcome to join this free conversation around books and a shared love of reading.

Farmers Market

The Crenshaw County Farmers Market takes place each Monday, 3 – 6 p.m., throughout the summer at Emmett C. Strickland Pavilion 816 Airport Road in Luverne. Call (334) 335-6312 for more information.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Monday and Friday evening at First Baptist Church in Luverne. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Taste Crenshaw

The Taste of Crenshaw is set for June 17 at 6 p.m. at the DEI Center in Luverne. Tickets are $15 per person for non-chamber members and free for chamber members  and will be available at the door. RSVP at 334-355-6200 or info@crenshawcochamber.com.

Summer Meals

Crenshaw County Schools summer meal pickups at Brantley School, Highland Home School and Luverne School happen each Thursday through July 31 from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Call Ruth Bayman at (334) 335-6519 Ext. 9204 to learn more.

Mommy and Me

The Luverne Public Library hosts a program for moms and young children each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. The next meeting will be this Tuesday.

Montgomery Zoo

A presentation by the Montgomery Zoo will be held for all ages at the Luverne Public Library June 27 at 10 a.m.

Kiwanis Club

The Luverne Kiwanis Club hosts meets on the first and third of each month. The club’s next meeting will be July 1 at 12 p.m. in the Chicken Shack private dining room.

Freedom Celebration

The inaugural Stars & Stripes Over the Lu is set for July 4, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Turner Park in Luverne. Come enjoy a day packed with activities, inflatables, contests, music and more. Follow the event on social media to learn more.

The Crenshaw County Health Department offers mobile mammography screening the second Tuesday each month. The next session is on July 8. Call (334) 747-4769 or visit the health department at 15 Hospital Drive in Luverne to schedule an appointment.

District Judge Jon Folmar and the Children’s Policy Council in conjunction with the Crenshaw County Commission, the Luverne Public Library and several others announce the beginning of a summer movie series for families, a showing of “Mary Poppins” beginning July 17 at 6 p.m. in the main courtroom. Popcorn will be served. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
