David Hughes, CEO at CCH, expressed his confidence regarding the impact she will make on the team.

“Mel has become an integral part of our success here,” Hughes said. “Her focus on communicating with our community about services here at Crenshaw Community Hospital and sharing how dedicated our staff are strengthens our mission of quality care with transparency.”

A graduate of Enterprise State Community College, she first earned her qualifications to work as an EMT (emergency medical technician) but enjoyed spending time creating. That spark inspired her to open a boutique, which is where she discovered her talents in the marketing field.

After growing her marketing skills, Stokes leaned into her talents and began filmmaking; commercials and short films are among some of the projects under her belt.

Wishing to combine her creative abilities with a career in healthcare, she began working for Andalusia health, where their marketing director saw potential and allowed her to market for Andalusia medical group.

After Stokes discovered the open position for a marketing coordinator at Crenshaw Community Hospital, she decided it made sense to pursue the opening, especially considering her medical background.

Among all the opportunities that the job offers, Stokes says she is excited to build the hospital’s social media presence.

“More and more people are getting on social media…I’m excited to do more with it,” Stokes said.

Along with photography and filmmaking, Stokes also loves to spend her free time with her husband and their three dogs, Cupcake, Cookie and Brownie.

“I’m just excited to be more involved in the community and help the hospital in all the ways they need to,” Stokes said. “I really feel like we can all grow together.”
