Taste of Crenshaw returns

The Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce is preparing for the annual Taste of Crenshaw, hoping to bring local vendors and attendees together to share a taste of what the county has to offer.

The event organizers are celebrating its second year back after COVID-19, which had cancelled the culinary adventure for four years due to restrictions and shortages.

“It gives local businesses an opportunity to share with others what they have to offer,” said Kay Franklin, the treasurer for the Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce. “Many bring newly added items [from] their menus to allow attendees to sample.”

Businesses featured in the past included local storefront restaurants, food trucks, chain restaurants and catering companies. So far, 12 businesses have registered for the Taste of Crenshaw.

For this event, the chamber hopes to highlight local businesses for attendees.

“We want to put a positive focus on our area’s food and beverage businesses,” said Amanda Martin, a Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce board member. “This is a way for them to highlight some of their most popular dishes.”

With a total of up to 20 vendor spots available, there is still the opportunity for vendors to take part.

Franklin said anyone interested in showcasing their goods to the community should call (334) 355-6200 or email info@crenshawcochamber.com.

“Taste of Crenshaw is an opportunity for our local vendors to come and showcase their products. Each vendor will provide attendees a sample of what they have to offer,” Franklin said. “While our focus is on food, other types of vendors are welcome to join us.”

Tickets are $15 per person for non-chamber members and free for chamber members  and will be available at the door on June 17 at 6 p.m. Any funds raised through the event will be used by the Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce to organize future events.

However, due to limited spacing at the DEI Center where the event will be held, the Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce asks for attendees to RSVP at (334) 355-6200 or info@crenshawcochamber.com.
