Crenshaw County 4-H members competed in the 4-H State Horse Show in Montgomery on May 17 and 18, bringing home award ribbons and the honor of competing on the regional level.

Four members — Anna Foster, Temply Jones, Trilby Jones and Georgia-Lynn Lowe — competed with their horses in a variety of classes. These include Gaited, Ranch and Western competitions.

“Saturday morning [after graduation the night before], running on a little sleep, they were all ready to compete,” said Jenny Foster, the Crenshaw County 4-H Club leader. “It rained hard Saturday morning, and the show started out with a rain delay.
“The kids were soaked, head to toe, dressed in their show clothes, and all I saw was smiles and laughter… They were joking with each other, about how far they had come, and this was their last show all together. They were playing on “hard mode”, and they were winning.”
