Birthday pup Chloe chosen Pet of the Week

Published 6:00 pm Sunday, June 1, 2025

This week’s pet of the week is Chloe, a Chihuahua owned by Bethany Jeffcoat in Rutledge.

Chloe was submitted to the Pet of the Week contest less than a month after Jeffcoat adopted the Deer-head Chihuahua.

“I was looking for a new addition to our family and my husband’s coworker at the time had some Chihuahua puppies and gave us one,” Jeffcoat said. “…Chloe came to us at the right time. She’s so loving, full adoration, and full of energy – when she wants to be.”

For Chloe, her days are filled with relaxation and fun. As Jeffcoat notes, Chloe loves to take naps in people’s lap, being carried around and burying herself under all of her blankets in her pink bed.

Additionally, when she has her “zoomies,” Chloe loves to spin in circles chasing her own tail and the birds outside. When she’s not zooming around, she likes to play with her Lamb Chop plush toy.

“She [brought] so much laughter and a light into our lives in such a short time,” Jeffcoat said. “ We can’t wait to have [her] for as long as we can.”

When meal time comes around, Chloe is a very picky eater. According to Jeffcoat, Chloe will only eat her kibble if it is softened and blended. Her favorite treats are also soft, with her preferring the soft lamb and salmon flavored puppy bites.

With her treats, Chloe has learned how to sit and “leave it,” a trick where she leaves her treat on the ground until she is told to grab it.

“She also will spin in circles at the door on command before going inside,” Jeffcoat said.

Now, Chloe is about to celebrate her first birthday on May 27 with her owners, where they have planned a special trip to Destin, Florida.

At the end of the day, Chloe loves to curl up either in her owners’ arms or into her pink bed. There, Chloe can rest and prepare for a whole new day, hopefully with some treats and cuddles in her future.
