Pet of the week – Luverne citizens love little Lilo

Lilo, a chihuahua mix owned by Luverne resident Chloe Finch, has been voted Pet of the Week.
At around four weeks old, Finch discovered Lilo sitting under a plant all by herself. After seeing that the puppy’s mother wasn’t taking care of her anymore, Finch took her in.
“She follows me everywhere because she thinks I’m going to leave her, but all I do is go to work and come home,” Finch said. “She is a sweet, loving, chunky dog and the best decision I’ve ever made was taking her in.”
At her home with her owners, Lilo loves to play and nurse on her toys, her favorite being a Grinch toy. Additionally, Finch said that Lilo was able to teach herself how to play fetch.
With food and snacks, Lilo has recently gotten out of being a picky eater and will now eat anything she can get a hold of. Her favorite snack being anything that has a bacon flavor.
“She acts like she’s still in the puppy stage because she chews on everything, like cords, hangers or shoes, pretty much whatever she can find,” Finch said. “She loves attention and when she doesn’t get it like she wants, she’ll rub her whole body against you and scratch at you until she gets loving.”
Outside of giving love and entertainment, Lilo helps her family out in another way. Finch states that Lilo helps her family by helping with their panic attacks. By laying around or on someone, her weight calms them down.
When it’s time to tuck in for the night, Lilo prefers to sleep in her owner’s bed, getting ready for another day of toys, pets and bacon-flavored treats.
