Tiny Body, Big Heart wins Pet of the Week

Pearl, a Shih Tzu owned by Luverne residents Sayge and Lane Sides captures hearts this week as Pet of the Week.
At three-years-old, Pearl is shy – however Sayge Sides said that the sweet pup will eventually come around to guests but keeps her distance.
“I got Pearl from someone who didn’t love her very much and she is still very shy from it,” Sayge Sides said. “When I brought her home the first day, she looked up at me the whole way home like I had just saved her life.”
Since then, Pearl has kept her owners entertained. One way she accomplishes this is through performing one of her only tricks, presenting a small dance for food. Outside of that, Pearl is described as a “queen who isn’t commanded by anything.”
For Sayge Sides, her “bestie” Pearl loves to follow her around and stick by her owner’s side.
“She is my bestie girl,” Sayge Sides said. “I have always wanted a dog that clung to me and she is just the girl. She takes every step I take during the day, and she always gives me the puppy dog eyes and gets to go with me everywhere I go. She’s my girl and I am so lucky to have her”
Pearl not only lives with her owners, but also with her pet siblings Maple, a golden retriever, and Maggie, silver lab. While Pearl might not be the most outgoing of the three, she finds her place as a “momma’s girl.”
At the end of the day, Pearl snuggles up with her owners in their bed and sleeps until the next fun-filled day, which she will undoubtedly spend at her owner’s side.
