Obituary – Samuel Vernon Sipper

Samuel Vernon Sipper, 78, a resident of Luverne, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 7th, 2025. A graveside service for Sam was held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. 

Sam, affectionately known as Chippy to his family, was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. His greatest joy was being a “PawPaw” and spending time with his four grandsons, whether they were playing basketball, riding the golf cart or enjoying a game of cards together. Sam had a love for golf and fishing, and he found immense satisfaction in working in his yard. Above all, he cherished the moments spent visiting and talking with his loved ones, always making them a priority in his life. He will be missed. 

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Edison and Lois Teague Sipper and his sister, Shirley Sipper. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janette Stewart Sipper; their daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Kris Blackmon and Angela and Adam Hall; grandsons, Will Blackmon, Carter Blackmon, Garrett Hall and Grant Hall; siblings, Kenneth (Janie) Sipper and Jeannie Sport and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. 

Active pallbearers were Kris Blackmon, Will Blackmon, Carter Blackmon, Adam Hall, Garrett Hall, Grant Hall and David “Skeeter” Kelly.
