Representatives from state and federal Veterans Affairs (VA) offices arrived at the Rutledge Town Hall Saturday, April 12, to aid around 38 veterans in navigating their benefits, including helping them with VA healthcare and disability.
In attendance on Saturday were Central Alabama Veterans Affairs representatives Yolanda Mills and Roderick Mumpfield, along with State of Alabama Veterans Affairs representatives Wade Morrison, Rhonda Jackson and Randy Ross.
Founder of the event and mayor of Rutledge, Steven Phillips, provided refreshments. Crenshaw County District Judge Jon Folmar and Phillips addressed veterans in attendance. Gunnery Sergeant Ira Walton led the group in a prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.
Phillips said hopes to have the same event in the future with a possible date to be set in August.
