Family and friends gathered to honor its pastor Dr. Raymond Franklin and First Lady Sarah Franklin on the anniversary of their ministry at Rock Elvy Missionary Baptist Church (REMBC). The guest speaker for the occasion was Wanda Parks, Associate Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church in Montgomery.

Rock Elvy Missionary Baptist Church, a small but welcoming congregation in Shady Grove, has been home to the Franklins for the past 26 years. Before coming to REMBC, Dr. Franklin served as a deacon at Macedonia Baptist under the leadership of the late H.L. Price, who later licensed him as a gospel minister.

Since becoming pastor of REMBC, Dr. Franklin has pursued advanced studies in theology, earning a doctorate to deepen his ability to teach the Word with passion and conviction.

The members of REMBC have expressed immense gratitude for Pastor Franklin’s guidance, impactful Sunday sermons, and positive influence on their lives. Alongside him, First Lady Sarah Franklin, a semi-retired nurse practitioner, has also been a steady source of support, offering her wisdom and compassion to the church family. Together, they have helped guide many through life’s challenges, fostering a spiritual environment based on faith, love and service.

“Former members, now adults, often return to express how Pastor and First Lady Franklin’s leadership shaped their lives, instilling values that have helped them lead productive and meaningful lives,” said Rock Elvy member Debbie Stringer. “Their positive impact extends far beyond the walls of the church. “

Over the years, Pastor and First Lady Franklin have dedicated much of their time and resources not just to the church,  but also to the broader community. Their commitment is evident in their continuous efforts to care for the sick and shut-in, regularly visiting homes, hospitals and nursing facilities.

The Franklins have also initiated various community outreach programs. One such initiative is the invitation extended to children to participate in the church services every third Sunday, where their school activities and accomplishments are recognized. Each month, they distribute homemade soup to the elderly in the community, and for Thanksgiving, they provide food baskets for those in need, along with care packages for homeless shelters and nursing facilities.

“Whether during joyful times or moments of hardship, the Franklins have always been a steady presence,” Stringer said. “Their deep care for all people is unwavering, and the congregation, as well as the community, knows they can always count on them for prayer, words of comfort, or a delicious meal.

“For 26 years, Pastor Dr. Raymond Franklin and First Lady Sarah Franklin have been a guiding light to their church family, and their legacy of love, dedication, and service will continue to inspire for many years to come.”
