Kevin Kennedy of Brantley was recently reappointed as resident director for Crenshaw County on the Board of Directors of the Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority (CPYRWMA). The oath of office was administered to him on Feb. 11.
Kennedy is president of Kennedy Forests Products, Kennedy Logging, Partners 5 Hauling and RBKK Leasing. He and his wife, Tracy, have two children, Natalie and Jack. He serves as vice chairman of Alabama Forests Fund, Workmans Comp Fund. He is also on the board of directors and trustee board of the Alabama Forestry Association. Kennedy is a member of the Brantley United Methodist Church and services as chairman of the CPYRWMA project committee.
“Our board is looking forward to the continued contributions Kevin Kennedy will make to the agency because of his dedicated service to his community and his appreciation of the natural resources in this area of southeast Alabama,” said Lisa Harris, executive director of the CPYRWMA. “We feel he will not only be an asset to our Board but an effective representative for Crenshaw County as well.”
The CPYRWMA is a state agency established by the Alabama legislature in 1991 and is responsible for developing plans and programs relating to water resource management in the areas of water quality, water quantity, flood control and water conservation education. It is the only watershed management authority in Alabama that is a state agency.
The river basin covers 2.3 million acres in southeast Alabama. The CPYRWMA is non-regulatory and governed by a sixteen-member board of directors selected from the ten southeastern counties and appointed by the soil and water conservation district in each county.
