As the leader of Crenshaw Community Hospital, I witness every day how essential our hospital is — not only for the health and well-being of our patients but also for the economic stability of Crenshaw County. Our dedicated healthcare professionals provide lifesaving care while supporting jobs, local businesses and overall economic growth.

Hospitals like ours form a crucial foundation for strong, thriving communities. Crenshaw Community Hospital contributes $26 million annually to the local economy and supports 183 jobs, making us one of the area’s largest employers. With 116 individuals directly employed, our total labor impact amounts to $7.2 million in salary and benefits — a testament to healthcare’s role as a driving force in our local economy.

Beyond employment, our hospital ensures continuous access to quality medical services. In 2023 alone, we provided 1,413 inpatient days, 9,776 outpatient visits and 6,192 emergency room visits, ensuring Crenshaw County residents receive timely and reliable care.

Our impact extends beyond hospital walls. Through workforce development programs, emergency preparedness initiatives, and charitable services, we are committed to the long-term health and stability of Crenshaw County. Programs like our rural health clinic provide essential care to underinsured and uninsured residents, reinforcing our dedication to expanding access to healthcare services. We also collaborate with local organizations to offer emergency medical services, emergency transport, and other medical care services to support our local population.

While hospitals face challenges such as rising costs, workforce shortages and growing service demands, our commitment to this community remains steadfast. By continuing to invest in healthcare and economic development, Crenshaw Community Hospital is dedicated to strengthening Crenshaw County for generations to come.

We urge community leaders, policymakers, and residents to recognize the vital role hospitals play in maintaining a strong and prosperous Crenshaw County. Our hospital is not just a place of healing — it is a cornerstone of economic and social well-being, and we are honored to serve this community each and every day.
