The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile confirmed this morning that its prediction for strong storms Saturday and into Sunday had not changed.

A tornado outbreak is expected to unfold across the Alabama today, with numerous long-track tornadoes likely. Right now, there is a moderate risk of storms entering Butler and Crenshaw counties around 3 p.m. and lingering through midnight. Gusty, non-thunderstorm winds with gusts up to 45 miles per hour are likely throughout the day.

Jessica Chase with NWS said regardless of what the outlook category is for today for any particular location, these storms are possible areawide. Where the more numerous storms develop, and move is highly uncertain.

A wind advisory is in effect from now until midnight. Strong wind gusts will peak this afternoon with the potential to bring down trees and power lines. Winds will remain gusty through early Sunday morning.
