Blood Drive
The Crenshaw County Community Hospital will host a LifeSouth Blood Drive March 13, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Spring Opening

Grand Opening
Oak Store and Garden, formerly Jean’s Garden, will host a grand opening March 15. More information is coming soon. The store is located at 7511 Georgiana Highway in Brantley.
Food Pantry
The Alabama-Crenshaw Baptist Association will host its monthly food distribution Saturday, March 15 at First Baptist Church Luverne. Distribution begins at 9 a.m.
Miss Essence
Registration fees in the amount of $30 for the Miss Essence Scholarship Pageant is due by March 15 and payable by CashApp to $MESPCC. The pageant is slated for April 12 at 1 p.m. To sponsor a contestant email deanza.sheridan@gmail.com or nitikamatthews@gmail.com.
Miss Crenshaw
Crenshaw County Pageants presents Crenshaw & Co., the Miss Crenshaw County Pageant, March 15 at 11 a.m. in the Luverne High School Auditorium.
Open House
The Crenshaw County Historical Society will be having an open house on Saturday, March 15, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Everyone is invited and admission is free.
BOE Meeting
The Crenshaw County Board of Education will host its next regular meeting on March 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the BOE office, 183 Votec Drive in Luverne.
Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous meets each Monday and Thursday evening at First Baptist Church in Luverne. Meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
Kiwanis Club
The Luverne Kiwanis Club meets every first and third Tuesday at the Chicken Shack at 12 p.m. The group’s next meeting is scheduled for March 18 featuring guest speaker Kathy Smyth with the Crenshaw County Chamber of Commerce.
Mommie and Me
The Luverne Public Library hosts a program for moms and young children each Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. The next meeting will be this Tuesday.

Book Club
The Crenshaw County book club will meet every other Thursday beginning at 5 p.m.The next meeting will take place March 20 at The Luverne Journal office, 94 Glenwood Avenue in Luverne. All book lovers and reading enthusiasts are welcome to attend this free event.
4-H Meeting
The Luverne Public Library will host 4-H Thursday, March 20 at 4 p.m.
Dinner Theater
The Luverne Public Library’s annual dinner theater is March 25 at the DEI Center, with a silent auction at 5:30 p.m., a meal at 6 p.m. and a musical featuring local talent, “Broadway Revisited,” at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each or $175 for a table of eight, available at the library.
LEGO Club
The Luverne Public Library will host LEGO Thursday, March 27 at 4 p.m.
Quilt Gallery
On March 27, the Cotton Street Gallery in Andalusia will host the Gees Bend quilters at the Andalusia Train Depot with an interactive demonstration from 3 – 6 p.m. and a lecture from 6 – 7 p.m. tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children. For information email swiggins@airartists.org.
Movie Day
The Luverne Public Library will host Movie Day Monday, March 31 at 4 p.m.
Easter Bunny
The Luverne Public Library will host a visit from the Easter Bunny April 5 from 9 – 11 a.m.
Yard Sale
The Crenshaw County Historical Society will host a yard sale April 5 at the museum on Airport Road. The event will take place, rain or shine, and continue until items are sold. This is a fundraiser for the museum and society efforts. The museum will also be open for viewing.
Mobile Screening
The Crenshaw County Health Department offers mobile mammography screening the second Tuesday each month. The next session is on April 8. Call (334) 747-4769 or visit the health department at 15 Hospital Drive in Luverne to schedule an appointment.
Responder Breakfast
A first responder breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, April 12 at First Baptist Church, Luverne. The free event is open to all first responders and their families. Breakfast begins at 9 a.m.
Scholarship Pageant
The Miss Essence Scholarship Pageant is slated for April 12 at 1 p.m. at Highland Home School. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 10 and under. Doors will open at 12 p.m.
Veterans Meeting
The town of Rutledge will host a veterans’ town hall meeting April 12 at 1 p.m.. A Veteran’s Administration official will be present to share information on available healthcare resources and to help veterans obtain disability benefits. All veterans from any county are invited to attend.
Cloverbuds Meeting
The Luverne Public Library will host Cloverbuds Monday, April 14 at 1 p.m.
Craft Day
The Luverne Public Library will host Craft Day Monday, April 14 at 4 p.m.
4-H Meeting
The Luverne Public Library will host 4-H Thursday, April 17 at 4 p.m.
Library Closed
The Luverne Public Library will be closed for Good Friday, April 18.
