A Time to Grow Starts Next Week By Dunford Cole

Next week, the Church steps into Lent — a six-week spiritual journey that gives us the opportunity to draw closer to God. That means we will be placing ashes on our foreheads in the shape of the cross and hear those powerful words, “From dust you came, and to dust you shall return.”

Lent is a time when we live out our faith by reflecting, repenting, and being reconciled. Think of it as a chance to drop the burdens that weigh us down and keep us bound. How do we accomplish this? By seeking Jesus.

Lent isn’t about showing off. It’s about recognizing our shortcomings and being thankful for what God has given us. We get to hit reset and focus on what is real. With God leading us, we can have a holy and meaningful Lent. Take it slow, trust God, and see what happens.

Lent is for anyone who wishes to have a deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Anything we can do that draws us closer to the Lord is a good thing. So let us journey together towards the glorious Resurrection Day of the Lord.
