The Chicken Shack will transform into a scene of suspense and intrigue on Saturday, March 8, at 11 a.m., when a thrilling murder mystery unfolds, serving up an opportunity for locals to have a unique experience while raising donations for a local pet rescue.
For the cost of a $25 ticket, players will take on assigned roles, don costumes, and work together to solve a shocking crime — all while supporting a noble cause as a fundraiser for Animal Tails Rescue (ATR).
The is the third murder mystery event organized by Lisa Oliver of Luverne, and she promises an experience that is like nothing offered in Crenshaw County.
“I’m happy to be able to provide something fun and affordable for the people of Crenshaw County to enjoy,”said Oliver. “And, it’s great that I can participate as well. The fact that I can host events in local businesses is a plus.
“I see it as a way to help everyone. This will be my first fundraiser event, and all proceeds will be going to ATR.”
Participants can dress in costume, embrace their assigned roles and work together to uncover the identity of the killer in a setting reminiscent of the classic game Clue.
Brenda Bodiford-Waldrip and her husband, Pat Waldrip, have attended previous murder mystery dinners and eagerly anticipate another round of suspense and fun.
“Attending a murder mystery event lets you be someone new and meet new people,” said Brenda. “It’s amazing how folks you know can surprise you when they get into character! My husband, Mr. Pat, played a minister once, and I never expected him to be so convincing.”
According to Brenda, a murder mystery dinner is an experience unlike any other in Crenshaw County.
“Costumes help you step outside your comfort zone,” said Brenda “And hunting for accessories in the back of your closet or at a friend’s adds to the adventure. On occasion we have shopped at thrift stores to find a few accessories at nominal costs since more adventures make the Murder Mystery Memories even better.”
Animal Tails Rescue, the beneficiary of this event, provides care and hope for mistreated, neglected, and homeless dogs throughout the county. The fundraiser will support their mission and help continue their vital work.
There are only a few tickets left. They are $25 per person and must be purchased in advance. The meal and gratuity are not included in the ticket price and must be paid separately to The Chicken Shack and the server on the day of the event.
