The auditorium lights at Luverne High School will dim at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, as the spotlight shines for the 65th Annual Miss LHS Pageant. Set for a vibrant celebration of tradition and legacy, the event will feature all things ‘80s.

The community is invited to step back in time to an era of iconic hairstyles, bold fashion and unforgettable entertainment, all set to the theme “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” for the pageant that is a cherished tradition showcasing young women who represent the sprint of Luverne High School. Dedicated to the platform of promoting excellence, education, empathy, service to others, grace and camaraderie, the program, since its inception in 1958, has shaped the lives of countless young women, encouraging them to shine in their own unique way. 

“This is my first year as pageant coordinator,“ said Sirran Wilkes. “And I have huge shoes to fill. I’m humbled and grateful to Michelle (Dunn) and Kristin (Kelley) for joining me on this journey. As LHS alumni we strive to carry on the tradition of Miss LHS while highlighting the fun and freedom of the 1980s.”

As contestants shine in their evening wear, be prepared for student and faculty performances inspired by the era. Be transported back in time with music, trivia and headlines that impacted generations. 

“As we gear up for the landmark event, we invite everyone to join us for a night of fun, nostalgia and celebration,” Wilkes said. “With the spirit of the ‘80s in the air, the Miss LHS Pageant will be an unforgettable experience that reinforces the values of confidence, empowerment and sisterhood.”

“Join us and witness the magic of the past and support the future of our incredible young women at Luverne High School. After all, as Cyndi Lauper said, ‘girls just wanna have fun’ — and this year, we’re going to have a blast!”

The Miss LHS Pageant is slated for Saturday, Feb. 22 in the Luverne High School Auditorium. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the pageant begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10.
