The Kiwanis Club of Luverne met for its first-Tuesday meeting on Feb. 4 and discussed plans for the group’s upcoming golf tournament.
Hosted annually for six years, the tournament serves as the club’s major fundraiser for student scholarships. Slated for April 2 at the Luverne Country Club, the event features lunch and teams competing in a three-man scramble for 18 holes at the cost of $60 per person or $180 per team.
“The golf tournament is the easiest way for us to make money,” explained tournament coordinator Jessica Folmar. Hole sponsorship, at the cost of $50 per hole, offers individuals and businesses the opportunity to buy into scholarship efforts and gain advertising via signs placed at holes along the course.
The entry fee includes green fees, lunch, beverages and awards and prizes upon completion of the course. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Entries and hole sponsorships are available through any Kiwanian.
The Luverne Kiwanis Club meets at the Chicken Shack on the first and third Tuesday each month starting at 12 p.m. Meetings are open to interested persons desiring to learn more about the club’s purpose and work in the community.
