Madeleine Stricklin 95 of Luverne departed this life Sunday, Aug. 4 at Luverne Health and Rehab Center in Luverne. Funeral services were held from Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Wesley Hatcher officiating. Committal services followed in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held at Hayes Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1928, in Blakely, Georgia. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a master quilter, which she shared with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oneal Stricklin; two sons Dennis and Dow Stricklin; her parents, Bryant and Lucille Cain; two sisters Jeanette Whitton and Francis Ellis and one grandson Lee Dean. She is survived by her daughter Peggy and Leon Dean, her two grandchildren, Amy Dean-Baumgartner and Dow Stricklin, great grandchildren Aaron Baumgartner, Caleb Baumgartner and Joshua Dean, great great grandchildren Lyla Baumgartner, Blayke Baumgartner and Asher Baumgartner. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many beautiful memories that we can cherish.
