A Friday afternoon crash near Luverne has claimed the life of a Troy man.

The single-vehicle crash involving an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) occurred at approximately 4:10 p.m. May 31. Elvis W. Bowles, 41, was fatally injured when the 2022 CFORCE 800XC ATV he was operating left the roadway and struck an embankment.

Bowles, who was thrown from the ATV, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The crash occurred on Athens Church Road near Golden Road, approximately four miles east of Luverne, in Crenshaw County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
