Cheryl Lynn Westberry, 65, a resident of Goshen, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 13, while surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be announced at a later time.

Cheryl lived the first half of her life in central Florida where she grew up on a chicken farm and was an avid horseback rider. It was there that she also met and married the love of her life, John Westberry, and they meshed their combined families into one happy, melded group. Her passion in life was for children, which was evidenced by the constant house full of boisterous children that included not only her own but many from the neighborhood or extended family. It would be impossible to count how many children have called her “Mama” during their lifetime, and there was no greater name they could have bestowed upon her. After moving to Alabama, Cheryl branched out into the food service industry with two restaurants over the years. She also worked at an adult day care center where she was a beloved member of the staff to both her co-workers and those they cared for. In her private time, there were few things she loved more than to find a place to sit down and crochet beautiful items or working in her garden. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her so well.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Richard & Jeanette Whailey Reid and siblings, Randall Reid and Melinda Reigel. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, John Westberry; their children, Christina (Rodney) Gulledge, Bobby Vincent, Eva (Robert) Hilburn; Matt Westberry, Thomas Barneski and Daniel Barneski; grandchildren, Cody (Stachia) Gulledge, Eric (Caitlin) Lee, Danny Carver, Mandy Carver, Johnathan Vincent, Dakota Gulledge, Hayden Speckert and several Barneski Boys and a little girl named Kimberly; five great-grandchildren; a niece she loved like a daughter, Lory Lawson; nephew, Raymond Reid; the children born of her heart, Mimi, Phil, Alena, and Amanda and a host of other extended family and friends.
