Robin Straughn Compton, 63, a resident of Brantley, passed away unexpectedly at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Wednesday, April 10. Funeral services for Robin will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 12, at Cameron Chapel Methodist Church with Pastor Robert Canant officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery there with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Robin lived every moment of her life to the very fullest. In her younger days, this social butterfly was always the life of the party. She loved people in general, whether it was a big gathering or just hanging out one on one with good conversation and maybe a margarita or two. She was a born extrovert and loved to talk so much that any stranger was really just a friend she hadn’t met yet. Oh, and you never had to guess what was on Robin’s mind because you could bet she was going to tell you! She was quite outspoken, and she was most likely going to have the last word in any passionate discussion… especially when it came to the Alabama Crimson Tide!
Above all, though, she was a caregiver at heart. Robin was always checking in with her entire family to make sure they were doing well and to see if there was anything she could do for them. There was no one she preferred spending time with than her family, but especially her beloved husband and their baby girl. They were her entire world and the fulfillment of her lifelong dream of having a cherished family of her own. She loved them with her whole heart, and they felt just the same about her. Words cannot express how much she will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her so very much, but they will find comfort in the lifetime of special memories they made together.
Robin was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard “Bill” and Patricia Eddy Straughn; nephew, Drew Straughn; nieces, Amber Straughn, Brittany Ainsworth and Brandy Ainsworth and stepsisters, Linda and Ronnie. She is survived by her loving husband of over 30 years, Coleman Compton; their daughter, Chasidy Compton (Jacob Lindley); siblings, Rebecca (Eugene) Ainsworth, Kathy Everage, Marsha Ammon, and Tommy Straughn; aunt, Sibyl Burgess and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Active pallbearers are Chasidy Compton, Jacob Lindley, Dusty Dean, Adam Godwin, Eugene Ainsworth and Travis Lee.
