“On Monday, Nov. 27, at approximately 10:14 p.m. Special Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) launched a homicide investigation at the request of both the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office and the Crenshaw County District Attorney’s Office,” said ALEA Sgt. Jeremy Burkett.

The murder occurred near the 6000 block of Old Three Notch Road near the Bullock Community in Crenshaw County.

The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office was unable to comment after turning the case over to SBI.

The deceased’s mother, Bessie Phillips, took to social media after the slaying, requesting the community’s help with donations for funeral arrangements and support for Soisson’s three children.

“Today I received the worst possible phone call a parent could ever get,” Phillips wrote. “I was contacted by the Crenshaw County Coroner’s Office and told my oldest daughter had been shot and killed… .”

Burbage was taken into custody by the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office on July 8 on charges of attempted murder. The arrest stemmed from after Burbage disturbed the peace during a wedding ceremony at Barns and Bins Wedding and Event Venue near Luverne, when he fired shots towards a wedding guest.

The accused was not a guest at the wedding. According to witness statements, Burbage arrived at the scene behaving recklessly and brandished a firearm before discharging the weapon at an individual who was not injured.

Nothing further is available as the investigation of Soisson’s murder remains ongoing, Burkett said. Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Crenshaw County District Attorney’s Office.
