Residents of Highland Home and surrounding areas have taken notice that the doors are back open at Hi-land Kar Care, now operating as Elite Auto and Tires.

Owner Pete Hayes said after being closed for around a year, the automotive repair shop is back in business thanks to a new acting manager, Pine Level native Cleophus Elder, who took over and opened the shop in October.

“Cleophus is a super nice guy and he knows what he’s doing,” Hayes. “The main thing is that we have our doors open. People have been coming in and we’re very happy about that.”

Elder said he was eager to accept the position and has high hopes for the business which will operate under the name Elite Auto and Tires.

“I love this kind of work, so I’m thrilled to be here,” Elder said. “My goal is to help out the people here that need it and the community has been very responsive. It’s been great so far. Everybody has been pretty happy with me, and they want me to stay as long as I can so that’s my goal.”

According to Elder, Elite Auto and Tires offers oil changes, brake and rotor replacements, light mechanic work, vehicle detailing, and both new and used tires.

Hayes said he is proud to have Elder on the team and assured the community Hi-land Kar Care/Elite Auto and Tires is ready and equipped to tackle their car care needs.

“We are here to help the community,” Hayes said. “We always try to do our best work on whatever it is we’re working on, and one thing that sets us apart is if someone has a complaint or isn’t happy, we go out of our way to make it right.”

Elite Auto and Tires is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays but according to Hayes, working outside those hours isn’t a problem.

“Cleophus is out there every day some weeks,” Hayes said. “He works most Saturdays and he’ll even be out there on a Sunday if he needs to be. He works any time somebody calls.”

Hi-land Kar Care – Elite Auto and Tires is located at 18710 Montgomery Highway in Highland Home, right beside It Don’t Matter restaurant.
