This week’s “Pet of the Week” feature shines a heartwarming spotlight on a very special canine resident of Glenwood. Meet Tito, a 9-year-old terrier mix who has defied the odds and found his forever home with Brittany Lester.

Rescued from an extreme and unsafe hoarding situation, Tito was in dire straits when he came into Lester’s life just over a year ago. He was emaciated, had no fur to speak of, and his future seemed uncertain.

However, Lester, a dedicated animal lover with a soft spot for misfit and older dogs who have trouble finding their forever homes, saw something special in Tito. She decided to open her heart and home to him, and that decision has brought immeasurable joy and companionship to both of them.

“Tito is the king of the house,” Lester said. “He’s brought so much love and happiness into my life, and I can’t imagine it without him.”

Despite his rough start in life, Tito is now a picture of health. His once hairless coat has grown into a soft and shiny one, a testament to the loving care he receives in his forever home. Although he may lack teeth, Tito’s spirit is indomitable. Soft treats are his preference, and he’s a connoisseur when it comes to squeaky toys, which he insists on having all to himself.

One of Tito’s favorite activities is going for walks, and he eagerly hops into his car seat for a ride whenever the opportunity arises. He’s also a pro at playing fetch with his beloved toys, proving that age is just a number when it comes to having fun.

Tito’s heartwarming story doesn’t end there. He’s a trained and obedient companion who shares his owner’s bed each night. The bond between Brittany and Tito is a testament to the power of love and compassion, showcasing how adopting a rescue pet can change both the pet’s life and the owner’s life forever.

Lester encourages others to consider adopting pets from shelters and rescues, especially those who may be overlooked because of their age or past hardships. She firmly believes that every animal, like Tito, deserves a second chance and a loving forever home.
