“It was a short pursuit,” said Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Investigator Chris Stewart. “It was for an equipment violation and the vehicle fled.”

Broadway fled down New Bethel Church Road towards Lapine and led law enforcement on a chase that ended just past Magnolia Shores Road.

“He [Broadway] was weaving back and forth across both lanes,” Stewart said. “Luckily, no one was coming up to New Bethel Church to endanger anyone. He came to a stop next to some chicken houses.”

After stopping, Broadway and the passenger, Terry Kelley, of Highland Home, were detained for further investigation.

Evidence resulted in a vehicle search revealing methamphetamines and marijuana.

Officers arrested Broadway and Kelley, who were transported to the Crenshaw County Jail.
