Mrs. Elizabeth “Liz” Sikes Boyd, 87, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Friday, Aug.

19, 2022. Funeral services for Mrs. Boyd will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Lapine Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Leverette and Rev. Bo Weed officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Mount Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday starting at 9:30 a.m. and continuing until the service time.

Liz was a dedicated and devoted employee at Sikes and Kohn’s Country Mall for much of her life. In fact, for 51 years she was the recognizable go-to person for anyone who needed help and was familiar with the store. There was no question she couldn’t answer and nothing she couldn’t help you with when you needed it. She was a fixture at the store during her career and she has been missed every day since her retirement a year ago. In the little time she couldn’t be found at work, she enjoyed spending it with her family.

She was also a longtime, faithful member of Lapine Baptist Church and adored her church family there. Despite her work schedule, Liz still found the time to be a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family as her most priceless treasure in life. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her, but they will find comfort in the long, full life she led before leaving to rejoin her beloved husband in the arms of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Boyd; parents, Leo & Myrtle Jordan Sikes; and siblings, Clavin Sunday, Carolyn Sikes, and Bill Sikes. She is survived by her loving sons & daughters-in-law, Kenny & Cindy Boyd and Randy & Vickie Boyd; grandchildren, Jessica (Nate) Puckett, Courtney (Deven) Green, Justin (Allison) Boyd, Chad (Angela) Boyd, and Lorin (Tyler) McGough; great-grandchildren, Mattie Leyton McGough, Bryleigh Boyd, Blakely Shea Boyd, Banks Boyd, and Sellars Green; sister, Sylvia (Ed) Grissett; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Justin Boyd, Chad Boyd, Tyler McGough, Deven Green, Nate Puckett, Will Sikes, Lee Sikes, and Ronald Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be James Sikes, Danny Sikes, Mickey Sikes, Brett Sikes, Buddy Sikes, and Robert Brantley.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the excellent care Mrs. Boyd received the last few months from her church friends, sitters, the staffs of Luverne Health & Rehabilitation and Crenshaw Community Hospital, and Troy Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Lapine Baptist Church, P.O. Box 91, Lapine, Alabama 36046.
