Two arrested for sex abuse

On Aug. 8, 2022, members of the Crenshaw County Grand Jury indicted two men for sex abuse.

Morris Allen Mount, of Rutledge, was indicted on one count of enticing a child to enter vehicle, house, etc., for immoral purposes (13A-6-69.

1).

Mount was arrested in Pike County yesterday, August 10, and transported to the Crenshaw County Detention Facility by investigators according to Sheriff Terry Mears.

Roger Dale Ryals, of Panola, was indicted for two counts of sodomy first degree (13A-6-63), one count of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old (12-6-69.1), and one count of enticing a child to enter vehicle, house, etc., for immoral purposes (123A-6-69). Ryals was arrested in Luverne on Aug. 10 and transported to the Crenshaw County Detention Facility. Ryals is currently a registered sex offender in Crenshaw County.

“Due to both cases currently being under investigation and the nature of the charges, no further information will be released at this time,” Lt. Chris Stewart, Crenshaw County investigator. “Please contact the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office, Chief Investigator Strickland, or Investigator Stewart if anyone has any information related to or can assist with these investigations.

An indictment is a formal charge or accusation of a serious crime. The defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
