Luverne Police Department was dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian accident in the 500 block of Petrey Hwy on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at approximately 5:16 p.m. Captain Mason Adcock, Luverne PD, said when officers arrived, Luverne Rescue and Luverne Fire Department were already on the scene. A male subject was receiving treatment while in the roadway. 

Adcock said preliminary reports indicate that the male subject was walking south on Petrey Hwy and was struck in the roadway by a vehicle that was also traveling south. The vehicle involved was driven by a  juvenile driver that remained at the scene. 

The male subject struck was transported by helicopter out of the county for further treatment. The investigation is ongoing at this time. Luverne PD was unable to verify the victim’s name, but the victim has been identified by outside sources as Lander Knight of Patsburg.
