Luverne Fireworks may be postponed

From Mayor Ed Beasley:
“There was a discussion this spring with our fireworks shooter, Casey Chambley. Chambley is the owner of Chambley’s Display Fireworks. Chambley’s Display Fireworks has shot the fireworks show for the City of Luverne for over 15 years. Mr. Chambley advised us that there would be a 40% increase in the costs of the fireworks this year. There is a supply chain issue with China. All fireworks shot are mainly manufactured in China. Mr Chambley advised us that two of the larger USA based distributors (including the one he purchases from) have not received there containers as of 05/01/2022. This has never happened before according to Mr. William Neal. There is a possibility that the fireworks show may have to be postponed to a later date if the containers do not arrive in time. We are still six weeks out at this time.
We would like to thank Mayor Bernie Sullivan and the Town of Brantley. Also, the Crenshaw County Commission for their generous donation to cover the over cost so the show can go on”
