Robert “Bo” Colquet

Mr. Robert “Bo” Colquett, 94, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Sunday, May 1, 2022. A graveside service for Mr. Colquett was held at 2 PM on Monday, May 2nd, in Brantley Cemetery with Brother Stae Sanders officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Colquett proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return to the States, he continued his service by joining the Brantley Police Department. He ultimately worked in law enforcement for 32 years total, including 8 years as the Sheriff of Crenshaw County. He was also a dedicated member of Alabama Peace Officers Association. Mr. Colquett was kind and compassionate with others, but especially with his family and friends. He always had a warm and open demeanor that made it easy for others to approach him when they needed help. Above all, he loved his family more than anything else in the world, and that included his favorite canine companions: Midnight, Buddy, and Willie.

Mr. Colquett was preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Dorothy Arthur Colquett, and siblings, Dick Colquitt, Tom Colquett, Bill Colquett, Steve Colquett, Louise Sasser, and Jean Turner. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Erma Jean Gibson Colquett; siblings, Raymond Colquitt, Lomax (Clara) Colquett, and Charles (Mary Ann) Colquett; sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Colquett and Juanita Colquett; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Active pallbearers were Karl Eiland, Jim Gibson, Scott Miller, Chris Layton, James “Junebug” Colquett, and John Ganey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to one’s favorite charity.
