The 39th Annual 1st grade play at Luverne school was fantastic. The 1st graders performed this year’s play, “A Froggy Day in Lindentown,” on Thursday, April 21. The first grade play is an annual event sponsored by the Dee Turner PTA. It is presented in honor and memory of Elaine McDougald Goodwin, a life-long educator and member of the Luverne family. After Mrs. Goodwin lost her battle with cancer, the PTA created a scholarship in her name. (wccannabis) The scholarship is awarded to a deserving member of the senior class at Luverne School each year with a total value of $2000. To fund this scholarship, the PTA teamed up with the first grade teachers and started the annual first grade play.
The play featured an entourage of the cutest little tour guides and animals. Bully the Bullfrog was not such a nice addition to the swamp to begin with, but with a little encouragement from the swamp critters, Bully changed his ways. Every 1st grader participated. One child was not able to be at the program, but thanks to some tech savvy teachers and an iPad, the little swamp guide was able to be a part of a wonderful tradition at Luverne School.
