Many people can’t wait for some vacation, ready to lie on the beach and leave all their worries behind. But who says you can’t have a little Christmas magic in April? Not the Wiley family from Brantley who shared their Christmas tradition along with two creative young men.

Eleven-year-old Kristopher Sankey and his brother, ten-year-old DeVonte Sankey, claimed honorable mention winner prizes in their family’s Gingerbread Decorating Contest this past Christmas in Brantley, Alabama. Kristopher and DeVonte were the only two juvenile competitors out of seven total participants in the contest.

Each designed and built their gingerbread house from scratch instead of using pre-assembled houses as some of the other contestants chose to do.

In addition to claiming the winning titles, the brothers each claimed a $20 cash prize for their unique designs.

Kristopher aspires to be an actor one day, but for now his favorite classes are math and science. DeVonte dreams of becoming an engineer. His favorite classes are English and science.

Lamorris and LaQuisha (Precious Wiley) Sankey are the parents.
