Hello from Rutledge

Well, it is a new year. I hope everyone had a good holiday season. We had a great holiday season here in the town of Rutledge. (Musicmundial)
The Town of Rutledge is working on getting a couple of more grants to improve the Town. We are looking to host another meet of the candidates at the end of February, as you can tell by the recent articles on the front page of the paper it is an election year.
I know that I have not written in awhile. We have been extremely busy at Luverne Hardware getting everything stocked for you the customers. Of course, Caitlin has her room stocked and ready for everyone. And Christopher has all the feed ready. The rest of us are busy just trying to keep up with it all. If you have not already been in, come and see all the changes. We get ammunition periodically so keep an eye on the Facebook page.
Now onto other things. There seems to be an uptick as far as drug arrests go in the county. Of course, there is still a long way to go to clean up the mess we have as far as drugs go, but it seems like an effort is finally being made.
As far as the race track that runs through Rutledge, you know it as Highway 10, it seems to still be in business. It would be great if we could find a way to slow the cars and semi’s down. Maybe we could work on that next. For a while the sheriff’s office worked on it diligently, I know they can’t be over here all the time but it would be nice to see them a little more often.
I’m not really sure the rules are in as far as deputies responding to a call, but I would think that doing 90 to 100 is probably a bad idea through towns and cities. Wouldn’t it be better to arrive Five minutes later than not at all? And while we are talking about the Sheriff’s Office, what is the status of Mr. Earl and Delange Harris’s case?
On to other news, Congressman Barry Moore visited on January 3. It was his fourth trip to Crenshaw County in less than a year. I’m glad he remembers where we are and cares enough to come and let us know what is going on in DC.
And just to keep it fresh in everyone’s mind, it has been approximately 3903 days since Mr. Delange Harris was murdered in May, 2011 and 2033 days since Mr. Earl Cosby was murdered on June 13, 2016, and of course still no justice for the families of these victims.
