Crenshaw Christian beats South Choctaw

The Crenshaw Christian Cougars played the first round of playoffs against South Choctaw last Friday night and walked away with a hard fought 21-18 win.

Coming off a State Championship win last year, the cougars are looking to retain their 1A status.

The Cougars will now travel to Jackson Academy for round two.

One of the reasons the Cougars play so well is their sense of team. Crenshaw Christian’s team works together to ensure they will be victorious.

Coach Grant provided a few player statistics from the game:

Logan Owens, No. 4, completed two touchdowns and an interception, 12 rushes for 87 yards and nine tackles on defense.

Brayden Moore, No. 7, had eight rushes for 43 yards, four catches for 15 yards, six tackles and one touchdown.

Drake Mills, No. 22, ran six rushes for 28 yards, one reception for 21 yards, and seven tackles on defense.

Ashton Acreman, No. 10, had four catches for 52 yards, one touchdown, and two tackles on defense.

Coleman Owens, No. 24, completed two rushes for five yards, four tackles on defense and has one interception.

Dane Young, No. 12, had one catch for a total of 12 yards.

Dylan Atwell, No. 34, completed 12 tackles on defense and had one fumble recovery.

Walden Mitchell, No. 61, had nine tackles.

Jacarian Toney, No. 52, had six tackles.

Gage Young, No. 54, had six tackles.

Ky’ori McKinnon, No. 3, had four tackles.

Kameran Christian, No. 1, had four tackles.

Jake Bodry, No. 15 had two tackles.

Dalton Jordan, No. 9, had one tackle.
