Todd Russell officiating. Interment followed in Bethlehem Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home

of Luverne directing.

Mr. Cauthen attended Troy State University before transferring to Alabama Christian University

(now Faulkner) on a basketball scholarship. He graduated with bachelor degrees in both

Psychology and Engineering. He then went to work with the Alabama Department of

Transportation until his retirement. He was a gregarious man who never met a stranger and

could spend hours talking with people with never a lull in the conversation.

In his free time, Mr. Cauthen loved going fishing and taking cruises with his wife at least once a

year. He also thoroughly enjoyed gospel music and had become a faithful member of Mountain

Hill Baptist Church after his baptism. Every Saturday he could be found at an area flea market

buying and selling his “discoveries.” On Saturdays in the fall, he also loved cheering on his

beloved Florida Gators. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who

cherished his family and the time they spent together. They will miss him terribly, but they are

comforted in the knowledge that he is at peace and no longer suffering.

Mr. Cauthen was preceded in death by his grandson, Noah Hayden Beck, and his father,

Wilfred “Pig” Cauthen. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Betty Cauthen; children,

Scott Cauthen, Jennifer (Tim) Burgett, Deanna (Chuck) Armstrong, and Janeen (Brandon)

Mosley; grandsons, Connor Cauthen, Will Beck, and Andy Burgett; mother, Alice Rhocene

Morgan Fowler; sister, Sandra Peavy; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
